Service Dog Task Generator

Purpose

According to the US Department of Justice, a service animal is one that has been trained to "perform tasks" or "do work" for a disabled handler. A recent notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register (73 FR 34473) will update 28 CFR Part 35 § 104 to formalize the DOJ's position that "[a]nimals whose sole function is to provide emotional support, comfort, therapy, companionship, therapeutic benefits, or promote emotional well-being are not service animals."

It is often difficult for some people to clearly articulate how their service animals help them to mitigate their disability in a way that meets this definition. This is especially true for service animals such as autism or psychiatric service dogs, where some of the most important work is not strictly physical in nature.

As a result, I've put together this task generator to help people define tasks for themselves. More importantly, I've designed the generator so that a well-designed task will be easy to communicate to others, hopefully in such a way that the utility of the tasks is not in question.

Instructions

Ever do Mad Libs with your friends? This generator works the same way: each of the fields accepts a short sentence fragment, which will then be used to create a complete task description. Just use the most concise word or phrase that gets the idea across without skimping on the important ideas.

Please don't use entire sentences or use more than a handful of words in each box, or you'll be disappointed with the results. Hint: if you find yourself using punctuation, make it shorter!
